Mark Stevens

Mark Stevens joined the KWQC News Team in June 2012. A Geneseo native, he’s thrilled to tell stories in his home market. Mark started his journalism career in radio, working as a news announcer in Kewanee, as well as becoming a reporter and anchor at WHO-AM in Des Moines. He made the switch to television news in 2010, landing a reporting job at WTVO/WQRF in Rockford.

Mark’s favorite stories in his short career: Profiling two World War Two veterans. One who holds the record as the youngest Naval aviator of that war. And another who helped liberate a Concentration Camp at the war’s end.

A graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Mark hopes to continue telling interesting and unique stories in the QCA. The Quad Cities deserves good reporting, and KWQC is the place to get it.

Mark seems to be following the paths of his parents right now. They both started their careers in Rockford, before moving to the Quad Cities. (They’re encouraging him to look for work in Hawaii in the future.)

When he’s not at work, you can find Mark attempting to sail on the Mississippi, or browsing the library for a good book.

If you have any story ideas or comments, please email Mark or write to him on Facebook.
