Davenport Police Holding Toy Drive

Davenport police are working to make sure every child in our area has a present under the tree this Christmas and they are asking for your help .

Officers are teaming up with US Adventure RV to collect toys for children in Family Resources domestic violence shelters.

Many of these families flee their homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and can’t get help from Toys for Tots or other programs because they need to keep their locations secret.

The efforts by Davenport Police ensure Santa can find kids who might not otherwise have a holiday:

“Obviously with the domestic violence, us being police, having to experience that firsthand and deal with it, we have a close relationship with them, and it’s our way of giving back and taking care of that kind of stuff,” said the Davenport Police Association’s Cpl. Kris Mayer.

Officers will be out again on Sunday, December 14, 2014, taking donations. You can find them outside NorthPark Mall near the JCPenney’s and the Firestone building from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
