BETTENDORF, Iowa – To read about it is shocking enough. To see it, is frightening. KWQC has received permission to show dash-cam video from a witness of a multi-car crash on Interstate 74 that happened during the evening commute on Wednesday, January 21, 2015.
Davenport and Bettendorf Police were called to the accident at Interstate 74 and Spruce Hills Drive around 4:50 p.m. According to police, an eastbound Lexus LX 570 was going fast when it hit an eastbound Honda Accord. In the video from Andy Olson, the vehicle comes out of nowhere, on two wheels with sparks flying as it crashes into cars just ahead.
The impact sent the Accord off of the road as the Lexus hit another car, an eastbound Chevrolet Malibu. That impact sent the Malibu across the median and spun into oncoming westbound traffic where it was hit by a westbound Chevrolet Impala.
Police say the Lexus also crossed the median and hit an oncoming westbound Toyota Highlander before coming to rest at the westbound Middle Road exit.
The driver of the Lexus was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Police say the drivers of the other vehicles declined a trip to the hospital.
The is no information yet on whether charges will be filed.
