Moline Council to discuss more incentives for developer

MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) — It’s a project that came in way over budget. The ‘Q,’ a multi-modal station to be located in downtown Moline, will include a hotel, restaurants, retail space, and a train station.

The developer asked the city for more help after estimates for the hotel project went over budget by $2.6 million. The Moline City Council is scheduled to hold its first reading of a proposal for more incentives at a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, 2015. According to the city clerk, the vote will occur next Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

Two weeks ago, city leaders agreed to increase the financial incentives by $600,000 to $1.9 million. If council gives final approval to the project, construction is expected to start in April, 2015.
