DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Soon, riders could be able to borrow a bike to get around the QCA.
River Action is working on a feasibility study to see if a bike-share program would work. Bike share programs are already popping up across the country, including in Des Moines and Chicago.
Various docking stations would have bikes people could use to ride from place to place.
“Bicycling in the Quad Cities is a big thing, and we have a lot of bike paths on the river, we have a lot of networks with paths,” project manager Tim Chambers said. “I think it’s going to be great for commuters within the Quad Cities, but also for visitors coming to the Quad Cities.”
The committee will meet for the first time Friday night to talk about the plan, including how to pay for it, where the docking stations should go and the amount of interest.
