GRAND MOUND, Iowa (KWQC) – In one small Clinton County town, history is preserved in a unique way. On Clinton Street in Grand Mound, you’ll find the only wood frame fire station remaining in Iowa.
The building is home to the community historical society. This former fire station and town hall was built in 1892.
On the ground level, the century old fire equipment tells the story of when the apparatus was pulled by hand. The fire hoses and helmets dating back to the late 1800’s.

A 1947 wood telephone, a replica of what the Hughes farm looked like in the fifties, military uniforms, class pictures, and street signs are reminders of days gone by.
