Forum set on voter rights for people with disabilities

Davenport, IOWA (KWQC) – A local group is working to educate the community about voting rights.

The first of two events focused on helping people with disabilities make their voices heard at the polls this November took place at St. Ambrose University Wednesday night.

I.D. Action and a partnership between SAU and Vera French Mental Health Center, hosted a “train the trainer” event ahead of a forum where they will assist people with disabilities in understanding the voting process.

“We’re training them to be able to train others on their voting rights, how to vote, how to register to vote, and registering them, as well,” says Sarah Wurster, the event organizer and a junior at St. Ambrose.

The next event, a forum with guest speakers, will take place at the Rogalski Center on October 12th from 6 to 8 p.m.
