UPDATE: 4 p.m. Police say Davion M. Burge, age 21, of Davenport was taken into custody in the 2100 block of Emerald Drive around 12:30 p.m. Burge is currently wanted on a Department of Corrections warrant for Escape from the Residential Corrections Facility. Detectives continue to investigate the incident in the 1300 block of Waverly Road.
UPDATE: 11 a.m. Davenport Police released the following statement on the details surrounding Wednesday morning’s events:
Davenport Police officers responded to a subject with a gun in the 1300 block of Waverly Road at 8:28 a.m. Wednesday that prompted the lock down of Davenport West High School and Wilson Elementary School as officers searched for the man.
Officers engaged the subject who was attempting to conceal a rifle. The subject, described as a black male in his teens with dreadlocks wearing a backpack and wearing white shoes, dropped the gun and fled, starting a foot chase going north. Officers recovered the rifle and set up a perimeter.
Due to the schools proximity to the incident, they were locked down for about two hours.
Officers continue to investigate the incident and search for the subject.

UPDATE: 11:00 a.m. Police say they are still looking for the suspect, but they have the gun that was the reason for the lockdown.
UPDATE: 10:30 a.m. According to Davenport School officials, the lockdown for West High School and Wilson Elementary Schools has been lifted at the direction of the Davenport Police Department.
UPDATE: Eyewitnesses say there was a police presence at Central Park and Zenith. A neighbor in the area says a S.W.A.T. team was there with one officer standing outside of a home at Hidden Valley Circle and North Zenith.
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) — Davenport West High School and Wilson Elementary School were put on lock down Wednesday morning, September 14, 2016. School officials say the action was taken at the request of Davenport police. Police say a man was spotted in the area carrying a rifle.
School officials say parents will be getting notifications about what is going on.
