MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) – Authorities are investigating the death of a 20-year-old wrestling student on September 7, 2016.
The student, Jonah Snyder of West Seneca, New York apparently fell ill during fitness drills with his class. Emergency personnel were then called to the scene.
Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson reports that Snyder suffered a cardiac arrest. Emergency crews performed CPR, but Snyder’s heart rate gradually slowed down and he never recovered. Snyder passed away while being transported to Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus in Silvis.
An autopsy was performed but initial results were inconclusive. Samples taken during the autopsy will be put through toxicology and histology examinations, but those results likely won’t be released for several weeks.
Snyder was a student of Black and Brave Wrestling Academy. The Academy is run by Marek Brave and Colby Lopez. Lopez is more famously known as the WWE star Seth Rollins.
The Academy released this statement about Snyder’s death and his time as a student at the Academy:
