DECORAH, Iowa (KWQC) — A body found in the upper Iowa River has been identified as a missing college student. The medical examiner says 21-year-old Bjorn Norderhaug was a student at Luther College.
His friends last saw him at a bar in downtown Decorah early Saturday morning, September 17, 2016. Sunday morning, police searched along the upper Iowa river and found his body.
Corey Landstrom, Dean of Student Life at Luther College says counseling is being offered to students.
“We’ve reached out to some of his friends and roommates, and this is difficult for anybody whose experienced an unexpected loss of life. And so we have reached out to students and provided grief counseling on campus, which is available to students, staff and faculty.”
Norderhaug was a senior studying computer science and was from Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Luther College held a prayer vigil Sunday night on campus.
