The schedule will be in effect through Sat., Oct. 15 so that working homeowners in Rock Island Township can call or come in to discuss their Assessment Change Notice or to pick up appeal papers.

Rock Island Township Assessor Brenda Carmen says there’s nothing extraordinary about assessment changes; however, taxpayers have requested more accessible hours during the tax appeal time-frame.  Normal office hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 on weekdays. The assessor’s office first offered the later and weekend hours last year.

The deadline to file an appeal with the Board of Review is Oct. 17, 2016.
