Two pedestrians hit by vehicle near Vander Veer Park in Davenport

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) — One person was seriously injured after two people were struck by a vehicle Sunday evening near Vander Veer Park.

The incident happened on Sunday, September 18, 2016 around 6:48 p.m. Police say the vehicle was heading west on Central Park Avenue and turned south onto Harrison Street. The two pedestrians were crossing Harrison Street in the cross walk, headed west, and were hit by the vehicle.

Police say both people were taken to the hospital for treatment. One was treated and released. The other was seriously injured, but said to be in stable condition.

The names of the pedestrians and the driver of the vehicle are not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation. Updates are expected from the police.
