Kmart closing more stores

CHICAGO, Ill. (KWQC/NBC) – Kmart has announced plans to close 64 more stores in 28 states. Sears Holdings, which owns Sears and Kmart stores, notified employees on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016.

Several stores in the Chicago area as well as one in Macomb, Ill. are on the list to close by mid-December. Liquidation sales will begin Sept. 22.

The new wave of closures follows Sears’ decision to shut down nearly 80 stores, most of which are Kmart stores, back in July..
