BURLINGTON, Iowa (KWQC) – Members of the community are asking the Burlington City Council for more time to consider saving the old Apollo High School. And it looks like they’ll get that chance.
Last year, KWQC got a look inside the property that’s been sitting vacant since the 1980’s and has fallen into disrepair. City leaders said developers have already looked into its potential for housing or other uses. But on Tues., Sept. 20, 2016, the Burlington City Administrator confirmed that a representative from the Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission has offered a development proposal to try to market the building.
The city council voted three-to-two to consider the new plan, and will now wait until April, 2017 to decide what will to do with the building.
