Longtime Quad City priest is laid to rest


DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – The Quad City community is saying good-bye to a longtime Davenport priest.
Monsignor Marvin Mottet died Fri. Sept. 16, 2016 at the age of 86.

On Wed., Sept. 21, dozens of people filled Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport for his funeral service. Burial followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mottet was known for his lifelong commitment to issues of social justice and working toward equal rights. Just three months ago, he marked the 60th anniversary of his ordination.

According to his obituary, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Cathedral, Project Renewal, Quad City Interfaith, Interfaith Housing, Café on Vine or the Women’s Choice Center. Msgr. Mottet also requested that people bring non-perishable food for the Sacred Heart Cathedral Food Pantry or clean, usable clothing for the Sacred Heart Clothing Center.
