The new woodshop at Woodlawn Arts Academy is a one-of-a-kind in northwest Illinois.
The Woodshop has been a longtime dream of Peter Dillon of the Dillon Foundation, which started Woodlawn Arts Academy more than 10 years ago.
After many months of work renovating a building, purchasing and installing equipment, the woodshop is coming to fruition now, with classes scheduled to start in October.
Not only will there be classes that focus on a specific woodworking project, Woodlawn will also offer Independent Projects sessions during which community members may use the woodshop and its equipment to work on their own with supervision and guidance from one of several skilled instructors.
