Assumption and St. Ambrose celebrate new sports facilities

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC)-Assumption High School and St. Ambrose University celebrated the completion of phase one of a sports complex Friday.

Both schools’ bands played for the special occasion.  Two fields used for football, soccer and lacrosse , along with a softball field are now complete.

“That’s what’s really neat for our athletes and for the athletes of assumption high school,” says Mike Poster VP of Finance at St. Ambrose.  “For years we haven’t had proper athletic facilities for our use.  Our athletes have had to travel all over Davenport and the Quad Cities to get the kind of facilities that they need. Now they are right next to campus, right next to Assumption High School.”

The multi-phase project is on the former St. Vincent’s Center property.

Assumption will own the facilities with St Ambrose renting them.
