Flooding on Wapsipinicon River closes Old Highway 61


SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa (KWQC) – Floodwater from the Wapsipinicon River is now pouring over Scott County Rd. Y-68, also known as Old Highway 61 or Scott Park Rd. The county closed the road at 305th St. on Fri., Sept. 30, 2016. It was added to a list of secondary roads already closed this week because of the high water.

According to the National Weather Service, the Wapsi is cresting around 13.76 feet. Flood stage is 11 feet. The river is projected to start to fall on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Here is the list of roads closed in Scott County:

Buena Vista Road: From 70th Avenue to the Wapsipinicon River

82nd Avenue: From 288th Street to Buena Vista Road

288th Street: From 82nd Avenue to River Camp Road

River Camp Road: From 288th Street to Y52

144th Avenue and 145th Avenue: North of 305th Street

Y68 (Scott Park Road): North of 305th Street
