MAQUON, Ill. (KWQC) – A 14-year-old suffered minor injuries after a rollover accident that happened Sunday evening, Oct. 2, 2016. Deputies responded to the accident in 1300 block of Knox Highway 20, where the car rolled three or four times and was still on its top when help arrived.
Due to the severity of the crash, the Knox County Dispatch launched Life-Flight while crews from the Maquon Fire Department began to use extrication tools to free the minor from the driver’s side of the green Chevrolet.
According to a news release, the juvenile driver complained of hip, neck, and leg pain. The minor was then removed from the vehicle and treated. Deputies later spoke with the mother of the juvenile and learned the child would remain in the hospital for observation for cuts, but no broken bones.
Officials say the minor could not remember what caused the accident. Authorities say the minor will be issued citations for no valid driver’s license and for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The mother will also be issued a citation for permitting an unauthorized person to drive.
