HENRY COUNTY, Iowa (KWQC) — Two men were arrested after a traffic stop where one of them tried to run from sheriff’s deputies. The incident happened Friday morning, September 30, 2016 around 6:30 a.m.
Henry County Deputy Sheriff conducted a traffic stop on Washington Street, near Hy-Vee in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. The driver, 43-year-old Jeremy Crawford of Mount Pleasant was arrested for driving while suspended. The passenger, 23-year-old Colton Gallup of Mount Pleasant, fled on foot into the wooded area near Mount Pleasant Department of Corrections. He was caught later while trying to leave the area.
Sheriff’s officials say Gallup was found in possession of methamphetamine, prescription medications, and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a class D felony; possession of a controlled II substance, a class D felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
Gallup was also wanted for 3 other arrest warrants through Henry, Jefferson, and Des Moines County. Officials say his bond was set at $20,600.
