UPDATE: On Friday morning, October 7, 2016 we were notified that the boil order has been lifted.
COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (KWQC) The City of Columbus Junction has issued a boil order for all residents in both Columbus Junction and Columbus City, due to a water main break. That means you need to boil water from the tap or use an alternative drinking water source until further notice.
The city says there was a problem in the water distribution system and the system lost pressure on. Due to the potential for bacterial contamination, it is recommended that the water be boiled before using for drinking or cooking or that an alternative source be used. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil for at least one minute, and then let it cool before using it, or use bottled water.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. The water may be used for bathing and other similar purposes
