FORT MADISON, Iowa (KWQC) – The Iowa State Penitentiary is restricting movement at the prison after an incident in the prison dining hall on Oct. 4, 2016. According to a news release, the prison was put on restricted movement after a corrections officer was hurt while responding to the incident involving two inmates. The officer was treated and released at local hospital for a minor injury. One of the inmates involved was also taken to the hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non, life-threatening injuries.
In addition to restricted movement, the visiting room is also closed until further notice.
