Florida shelter welcomes dozens of displaced pets

Boynton Beach, FL (NBC) – Feathered and furry friends alike found shelter from Hurricane Matthew overnight Thursday in Palm Beach County.

The West Boynton Beach Recreation Center opened its doors to anyone needing a safe place to stay, including a chicken, 135 dogs, 60 cats, two birds, and two flying squirrels.

248 people also spent the night at the center.
