DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) — The National Weather Service has preliminarily confirmed that a EF-1 tornado touched down in Muscatine County on Thursday night, October 6, 2016.
The estimated peak winds were around 95 miles per hour. The tornado’s path was estimated to be about 9.5 miles long and 30 yards wide.
There were no injuries or deaths reported.
The NWS say the tornado started at 10:07 p.m. around 4 miles NNW of Muscatine, Iowa (41.4677N/-91.097W) and ended around 4 miles SSW of Durant, Iowa (41.552N/-90.9515W.)
Officials say the fast moving tornado caused mostly damage to crops and trees along its 9.5 mile path. A few trees were snapped at their trunks. One hog farm had two outbuildings completely destroyed.
