DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – A big road project for north Davenport is one step closer to happening. On Tuesday, October 11th the Iowa Department of Transportation awarded a $2.4 million grant for the 76th Street extension project. The grant is a part of the Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy (RISE) Program.
The road sees a lot of commercial and industrial traffic and right now ends at north Division Street. The plan is to extend it to Northwest Boulevard, making for easier access to Interstate 80 and more development possibilities.
It’s an estimated $4.7 million project altogether. After land acquisition and design phases the city hopes to start construction in summer of 2017.
