BETTENDORF, Ia. (KWQC)- Tuesday Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley toured the Cobham plant in Davenport and held a question and answer forum for employees. During the forum employees asked several questions regarding foreign policy, national security and Donald Trump’s latest comments. Grassley denounced Trump’s tape comments saying they were “atrocious and outrageous.” However, when asked if Senator Grassley still supports Trump he said the following:
“This isn’t a referendum on one person this is a choice between two candidates and I think that Hillary Clinton would be bad for our national security,” said Grassley.
Patty Judge’s campaign responded to Grassley’s s comment on Trump with the following statement:
“Even after Donald Trump’s disgusting comments, where he brags about sexual assault, Chuck Grassley is still fully supporting him. It’s more clear than ever that Chuck Grassley has stopped being an independent voice for Iowa and that he refuses to put his country before his political party. It’s time for Chuck Grassley to reject Donald Trump, like so many Republicans, including Senator Kirk, have done. It’s unthinkable that Chuck Grassley continues to hold a Supreme Court seat open for Donald Trump and continues to trust him with our nation’s nuclear codes.”
Grassley is currently leading Judge in the polls and said he’ll continue to campaign until Election Day. Grassley, among other politicians will attend the Scott County GOP Ronald Reagan dinner Tuesday evening in Bettendorf.
