Man killed in crash with deer

MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWQC) – One man has been killed in an early morning crash with a deer.

On Tuesday, October 11, just after 6 a.m., Muscatine County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a crash in the area of 1855 Highway 38.

Alek Cuellar, 37 of Muscatine, was driving southbound on Highway 38 when a deer ran in front of his truck. Cuellar’s truck hit the deer head-on. After hitting the animal, Cuellar’s truck veered off the road, ending up at the foot of a tree.

Cuellar was taken to UnityPoint Hospital Trinity Muscatine Campus where he was pronounced dead. He was wearing his seatbelt.
