Republican VP Nominee Governor Mike Pence Stops in Bettendorf

BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC)- Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Governor Mike Pence addressed republicans at the annual Reagan Dinner hosted by the Scott County Republicans.

He spoke first, and was joined on stage by Senator Chuck Grassley, Senator Joni Ernst, Governor Terry Branstad, and Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas, among others.

Pence addressed his running mate, Donald Trump’s, 2005 comments about women.

“It takes a big man to know when he’s wrong, to admit it and apologize and Donald Trump did that before the nation on Sunday night,” Governor Pence said.

He also attacked Hillary Clinton about the recent Wikileaks release of emails from her old campaign chairman John Podesta.

“She actually gave a speech in which she said to be successful politically, you have to have both a quote ‘public and private position’ closed quote on the issues,” he said.

Then, moving on to some of the issues of the 2016 campaign, Pence spoke about national security, repealing Obamacare and strengthening the economy.

Also, adding that a swing state like Iowa means a lot in a presidential election.

“America has always been able to look to the strong, common sense leadership of the people of Iowa. We’re looking toward you again, here in Scott County and all across this great state,” he added.

While Pence was speaking in Bettendorf, his running mate Donald Trump was in Florida.
