PERU, Ill. (KWQC) – The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team arrested a LaSalle man in a controlled buy operation.
According to officers, on October 11, 2016, just before noon Trident Agents along with LaSalle Police Investigators and the Peru Police Department arrested Joe L. McSpadden III in a controlled buy operation. The 33-year-old man was picked up at the corner of Rt. 6 and West Street in Peru after a controlled buy operation near the 800 block of Joliet Street in LaSalle, Illinois.
The arrest followed an investigation into heroin sales in the LaSalle area. During the investigation, officers say McSpadden delivered heroin to Trident Agents on several occasions. Once McSpadden was arrested, officers found crack cocaine and heroin at his room in the 1900 block of St. Vincent Ave.
McSpadden was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. McSpadden was taken to the LaSalle County Jail where he is being held awaiting a felony bond hearing.
According to officers, additional charges are pending.
The Trident Agency consists of LaSalle, Streator, Princeton, Oglesby, and Mendota Police Departments along with LaSalle, Burea, and Putnam County Sheriff’s Offices.
