KEWANEE, Ill. (KWQC) – The Illinois DOC is re-purposing the former juvenile facility in Kewanee.
The facility will house a life skill re-entry program for adult offenders. The program will help the offenders receive education and job skills necessary to survive in their communities after release.
The offenders range in age from 32 to 60-years-old and will begin to arrive at the facility in the next couple of months.
The facility retained the previous staff members and will be adding more correctional officers.
A job recruiting meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 19 in the Kewanee High School auditorium from 5:30 to 8:30 pm for those interested in applying for employment at the facility.
