BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) – It’s a magnificent scene along the mighty Mississippi Riverfront in Bettendorf.
On Fri. Oct. 14, 2016, the American Queen steamboat was docked at the Isle of Capri Marina.
The American Queen is said to be the largest steamboat in the world and is traveling up the Mississippi River. The ship is about 420 feet long and 90 feet wide, but the captain says it’s the height of the six decks that can be the most challenging, especially when it comes to navigating under river bridges.
You can see the ship towers over the cruisers currently docked in the slips at the marina.
The company plans to add another cruise ship, the American Duchess, to the Mississippi River in June, 2017.
