MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) – Volunteers gathered at Christ the King Church in Moline, Illinois on Sunday, October 16, 2016 to pack meals for Quad Citians in need.
Volunteers packed 20 thousand meals filled with rice, chicken protein, vegetables, and soy flavoring.
The event was organized by 4-H Teen Hunger Ambassador Clare VanSpeybroeck. She says it’s important for kids and teens to give back to their community.
“It’s important for us to start giving back now so that we learn how to give back when we’re older,” VanSpeybroeck said. “Because we’re the future, so we’re just going to make the Quad Cities a better place.”
The event took place in the church gym. More than 120 people packed all of the meals in just two hours.
