ROCK ISLAND, Illinois (KWQC) – Goodwill of the Heartland organized a free job fair to help those unemployed in the Quad Cities. The fair is taking place Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Martin Luther King Center in Rock Island, Illinois and is open to the public.
50 area representatives will be at the event, this includes employers and community resource providers.
At a similar event in 2014, organizers say they had over 250 people who attended. This year they are hoping to have over 200.
“Well with it being National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we really want to draw attention to inclusion in the workforce,” said Assistant Program Director for Goodwill of the Heartland, Matthew Martenson. “We represent employees and candidates who need some assistance in their job search because of disability, because of mental health diagnosis, because of homelessness. And so we want to be advocates for them and we want to be an asset to the community as well.”
Those who plan on coming are advised to bring a resume and be ready to interview. The event is free and begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 1 p.m.
If you can’t make it to the event, Goodwill also offers career services in their Moline Store. For more information call (563) 484-3757.
