BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) — Kids have a new place to play in Bettendorf. A dedication ceremony is planned for the new playground at Forest Grove Park on Saturday, November 5, 2016, beginning at 10 a.m. City officials say there will be a short ceremony and ribbon cutting, with light refreshments being served.
The park is located around a half-mile east of Middle Road on the north side of Forest Grove Road. The new playground portion of this 100-acre park was made possible with funding assistance from the Scott County Regional Authority, the Friends of Bettendorf Parks Foundation, and the City of Bettendorf.
In addition to the playground, there is also a large pavilion, basketball court area, and parking lot.
The park will have a large “passive use natural area” along the Spencer Creek watershed that will also be opening in the near future. This area will feature trails, wildlife habitat, restored native plant habitat, and natural play features.
Officials say future plans for the site include a multi-purpose green space area that will have ball fields, soccer fields, additional shelters, recreational pathways, and more.
The Phase 1 Project was constructed by McCarthy Improvement and Lower Construction, and was designed by RDG Planning & Design.
