Moline woman accused in death of infant grandson pleads guilty to misdemeanor

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) — The Moline, Ill. woman charged in the death of her infant grandson has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor.

78-year-old Beverly James was originally charged with endangering the life and health of four-month-old Darien Watkins. The baby was found unresponsive at James’ Moline home back in March 2015.

James was running a daycare. According to police, she left the baby alone with another child, who was under five-years-old. She came back to find the infant unresponsive.

Darien had injuries from blunt force trauma, bruises and bite marks. He died at the hospital.

James was sentenced to 24 months conditional discharge and fees.
