Cubs fever is definitely in the air. And business on both sides of the river are feeling it too. The owner of Me and Billy, Bill Collins says he’s ready to serve his eager guests.
“You know the excitement has been building since the start of the series,” said Collins. “The crowds have been building so we’re expecting a big crowd for tonight’s game, so it should be a lot of fun.”
The Restaurant even added a few specials in honor of game 6. A cubs fishbowl, a blue mixed drink, with the Cubs team colors.
Across the river at Doc’s Inn, in Silvis Illinois, they have a different kind of special for fans to enjoy, a drive in theater style atmosphere where fans can watch the games outside of the bar.
“Normally we get sitting outside we get about 150 people,” said Doc’s Inn owner, John Stopoulos. “The field should be full by the end of the night we serve them out here in the field, it’s a good time.”
The fans love the idea.
“It’s almost like a ballpark atmosphere at home here without going to the games might as well come over here and enjoy it with other cubs fans.” said Cubs fan, Nick Burnette.
But one thing was for sure, all eyes were on the cubs tonight. Many fans say their win was a long time coming.
The Chicago Cubs advanced to the world series for the first time since 1945, beating the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0.
