DES MOINES, Iowa (KWQC) – The state of Iowa is reporting its first death from West Nile virus this year. An elderly woman from northwest Iowa died from the disease. It’s the first death in Iowa from the mosquito-borne illness since 2010.
State health officials say there are currently 33 confirmed illness with several more under investigation. That’s more than double the number of cases reported. They recommend you should try to avoid mosquito bites.
