CHICAGO (AP) — The recent death of a man who was savagely beat by his father 68 years ago has been ruled as a homicide.
The Chicago Tribune reports that the Cook County medical examiner’s office determined Wednesday that the death of 74-year-old Arthur Malone was due to an incident in 1948 in which his father beat him and his two older brothers with a hammer before killing himself.
Malone died in his South Side home in August. He and his brothers, Norman and Irving Malone, struggled their entire lives with severe head injuries they sustained from the incident.
Their father, Quintis George Malone, had given his wife ice cream that he and a neighbor friend had spiked with a drug to knock her out before attacking the children in their sleep.
