DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa medical license is being reinstated for a Des Moines doctor who’d been acquitted of manslaughter.

The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/2e4NNdv ) that the doctor, Daniel Baldi, reached an agreement with the Iowa Board of Medicine that was released Wednesday.

Baldi was accused of improperly prescribing large amounts of painkillers to patients, including Paul Gray, founder of the band Slipknot, who died in 2010. Baldi was found not guilty of seven counts of involuntary manslaughter in April 2014. He continues to deny any wrongdoing.

Baldi must undergo retraining on ethics and other topics as part of the settlement and has agreed not to treat patients for chronic pain. His attorney, Guy Cook, says Baldi also agreed to pay a $5,000 fine in order to avoid more costly legal bills.
