Man hit from behind, injured in Eberly Park

STERLING, Ill. (KWQC) – A man is recovering after he was hit from behind by an unknown assailant.

Sterling Police say it happened at Eberly Park on November 5, 2016 at approximately 8:15 p.m. They are referring to the incident as an aggravated battery.

The victim reported he was walking from the wooded area of the park to his car in the north lot off W. Lefevre Rd. when he was approached by a subject from behind and struck in the head with an unknown object. His injuries were treated at the scene.

Police say the report appears to be an isolated incident.
