Tipton man arrested in child endangerment case


TIPTON, Iowa (KWQC) – Tipton Police have arrested a man in a five-month long child endangerment investigation.

According to officers, on July 24, 2016, the Tipton Police Department received information that a two-month-old child from Tipton was transported to the University of Iowa Hospital where he was treated for severe head trauma.

On Monday, November 7, 2016, Zachary Hayes was arrested for one count of multiple acts of child endangerment. The offense is a class B felony and carries a maximum sentence of 50 years.

The arrest was the result of a joint criminal investigation by the Tipton Police Department, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Cedar County Attorney’s Office and the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.
