ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) — They are ready to shine. More than sixty students at Alleman High School in Rock Island bring a classic to the stage later in the week.
The musical Mary Poppins is in the spotlight. Students have been rehearsing for their Autumn production for months.
Noel Huntley has the role of Mary Poppins. Mary is the magical English nanny who is blown by the wind to Cherry Tree Lane in London to care for the Banks children.
There are several familiar songs in the musical which stared Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke more than fifty years ago.
Samantha Sharp plays Winifred Banks. Samantha is a senior who has been acting since fourth grade. She says now is the time for the theatre group to shine. To demonstrate how much hard work it takes to put on this performance.
Linda McGraw is the choreographer. She says every ensemble number involves singing and dancing in this performance.
The musical is at the Spaeth Performing Arts Center on the Alleman campus. Showtime is November 10-12th at 7:30pm. November 13th at 4:00pm.
