HENRY COUNTY, Ill. (KWQC) — An Indiana man was taken to the hospital after crashing his vehicle into the back of a construction vehicle on I-74. The accident happened about four miles south of the I-74/I-80 interchange around 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016.
Police say a construction vehicle was on the left side of the road and had a sign board arrow activated. The arrow was directing traffic to move to the right due to construction ahead in the left lane.
According to police, 20-year-old John A. Dye Jr. of Seymour, Ind. hit the back of the construction truck vehicle and rolled into the driving lanes on I-74. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the construction vehicle refused medical attention.
Eastbound I-74 was shut down intermittently while the scene was cleared. As of 9:15 a.m., all lanes were open and the scene was clear.
Dye was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
