MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) – It’s that time of year, when the season of giving starts with plans for a huge community Thanksgiving dinner. It’s a Quad City tradition that spans 46 years, and Moline resident, Bob Vogelbaugh, has always been the driving force behind it.
Also known as “Mr. Thanksgiving”, Vogelbaugh announced Thursday plans for this year’s event on Thanksgiving Day. Once again, it will be held at SouthPark Mall in Moline from 4 – 6 p.m. The meal is free and everyone is welcome. And, if you would like to volunteer to help, Vogelbaugh says they can always use the help.
“It takes many hands, many legs and the more you have the easier it is on people,” he said.
In the past as many as 400 people volunteered to cook or serve the food. People can also donate pies and drop them off at the mall office near Von Maur on Wed., Nov. 23 or Thanksgiving Day. Cash donations can be mailed to: Mr. Thanksgiving, 3704 26th St., Moline, Il 61265.
MetroLink will also be providing free transportation. To reserve a ride, call 309 788-3360 by Tues. Nov. 22, 2016.
In past years, more than 2,000 people have attended.
