Davenport Police, Shots fired

QUAD CITIES (KWQC) — A man was hospitalized in Rock Island after he says he was shot on the Centennial Bridge heading into Davenport early Sunday morning. The incident happened around 2:47 a.m. on November 13, 2016.

Police responded to a shots fired call in the 800 block of Gaines Street. They were also told that a vehicle had struck a pole and flipped onto its side in the 1100 block of Gaines St. The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene.

There was no damage or injuries reported at the time of the call, but investigators did find bullet casings in the area. Police say a preliminary investigation suggests that several vehicles were chasing each other during the incident.

About an hour later, around 3:43 a.m., police were called to Trinity Hospital in Rock Island to interview a gunshot victim. The man had non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.

Police say the incident was reported to have occurred while the man was driving into Iowa on the Centennial Bridge. Police say casings were found on the bridge. Detectives are investigating to determine if these incidents are related.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
