UPDATE: Police say one of the victims in Monday night’s shootings has died from their wounds.
On Monday November 14, 2016 at 5:15 p.m., the Rock Island Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting shots fired in the area of 12th Street and 10th Avenue.
When police arrived, they found two victims. The first victim, 37 year old Richard B. Smith Jr., had sustained an apparent gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The second victim, a 16 year old juvenile, received a non-life threatening gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital. Police say the juvenile was treated and released.
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) – The Rock Island Police Department was called to a shooting Monday night.
Officers received a call at 5:16 PM for multiple shots fired to a home on 1014 12th Street in Rock Island. When officers arrived on the scene, they found two victims with gunshot wounds. Those victims were transported to UnityPoint Trinity.
Neighbors on the scene say they heard multiple gunshots fired.
