ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) – A book can have a pretty long ‘shelf life’, especially if Kylie Wymer is involved. The Rock Island High School senior has been collecting books and will distribute them to grade school students during an event scheduled for Mon. Nov, 21, 2016.

According to the Rock Island-Milan School Dist., Kylie spent the past several months collecting books for her recycled library project funded through the Thoms Above and Beyond Scholarship. She has been shopping at used book stores and taking donations from the community to collect thousands of books.

On Monday, she will be handing out books to students during a morning assembly at Denkmann Elementary school, where she once attended. Wymer will be visiting the rest of the district elementary schools over the next couple of weeks before winter break.
