(KWQC) – According to AAA almost 49 million people will be traveling at least 50 miles this Thanksgiving. The travel organization is also anticipating one million more travelers than in 2015.
89 percent of those leaving home for the holiday will be hitting the road. Some of this increase AAA says could be a cause of the millions saved on gas this year.
“We are heading into the tail end of the year here and we see improvements to the economy,” said AAA Spokesperson, Tamra Johnson. “We see job growth and we see that consumers are gaining more confidence and they are spending more.”
Travelers are also seeing cheaper airfare. AAA says a little over 3.5 million people will flying to their destination. This is also an increase from 2015.
