Pedestrian seriously injured in Dubuque accident

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWQC) — A man was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle in a cross walk Tuesday evening, November 22, 2016. The accident happened at 7:15 in the intersection of 17th and White Streets.

Police say 44-year-old Jeremy S. Maus of Hampton, N.H., was walking westbound in the crosswalk, in compliance with the pedestrian walk signal when he was hit by a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Uriah A. Van Ostrand, 22, of Dubuque.

Maus suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. He was later airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. His condition was not reprted.

Van Ostrand was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The accident ramained under investigation.
