QUAD CITIES (KWQC) – The annual Toys for Tots campaign is underway for the holiday season, and in just about a week, KWQC will be holding a Toys for Tots event.
The US Marine Corps Reserve helps collect and distribute toys to area families and kids in need, and you can help during our donation drive. You can bring new, unwrapped toys for kids ranging from six months to 12-years-old.
Still, the organization is looking for families to sign up to receive toys as well.
“If the family fell on hard times loss of job or whatever the case may be, it’s definitely important for families that are in need to come and register because it allows them to have an awesome Christmas and create memories that they will be able to have for the rest of their lives with their family,” said SSgt. Carl Pedder, the coordinator for the Quad Cities Toys for Tots.
“The facial expressions on the parents when they receive the toys and everything else is just – there’s no words to describe it. Their emotions are just rolling everywhere.”
Registration will end December 3rd. Families looking to register can just head to the Toys for Tots warehouse in Rock Island Thursdays through Saturdays to complete the process.
You will need a photo ID, birth certificates for your kids and proof of residency. The address for the warehouse is 8301 42nd Street West in Rock Island.
Next Thursday, we’ll be collecting toys here at our KWQC broadcast center in Davenport. Just drive up and drop off donations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
